If you're, like me, and suddenly found yourself needing assistance for HVAC then you found the right place. Call this company. Trusted, honest, friendly, and more importantly effective and affordable when you need a help.
I not only received better than expected service. I actually only had called for a second opinion folks, and I wish it had been the first call/opinion. All too often some companies skip the effort of doing a repair, aka the reason you called, and lean into sales and unnecessary replacement. What's weird is that you weren't calling for a new car when you have a flat tire, right?
That can unfortunately be the rub when you are in need of assistance, willing to pay for it, and hard pressed to know what's needed vs what someone else can benefit from when your in a pinch.
You don't call AAA with a flat tire and expect to be sold on a new car roadside as the only solution, and left with no solution but that. That would be ridiculous, and possibly unethical.
I found myself not only having my time wasted by another company, but my patience tested with a $19-29,000 quote from USHAC (and too many hours of my time) only to have Brad find and resolve a seemingly simple issue in 4 minutes (a fuse) and the previous technician never even checked that (even when I mentioned it) before passing the buck to sales to suggest an entire new HVAC system for what was a single blown fuse in the air handler and a single wire with some friction wear on the insulation that caused an otherwise good working system to be unresponsive. And-my god- that was after 2 days of missed appointments and hours of my time for what some might call an offer to be screwed over by a company that seemingly never wanted to help you when needed. To be frank, I would be more pissed with that other company if I wasn't so dang happy and satisfied with having reached out for a second opinion. Brad answered my random call, came the same day (just hours later) and repaired the issue so fast I was confused by the apparent ease of resolution. It was literally the service I called for first, and I can now assume happens more often than a reasonable person would assume.
The take away is that Astoria Heating and Cooling solved what USHA seemingly couldn't and even the corporate follow up admitted to that. I have no interests in the HVAC business aside from being a homeowner. I only like good honest people. I will sing Brads praises for what he was trained and capable to do- and he is a nice guy which I consider a bonus. I called for a repair, but I appreciated the service and savings. Flat out, phenomenal service when I had needed it. That's why you make a call, Brad is who you want to answer.
Reviews and reputations are hard to determine these days. And it's made all the worse when unexpected. Trust is earned while performance is expected right out of the gate I recommend this company AFTER the quality service was completed and performance verified with results. I will now only call this company for HVAC, it's just a no brainer. Brad earned my possibly uncomfortable praise and satisfaction for his services, and he put other, larger companies, to shame. I think it's a difference of being qualified and capable vs being that larger company that is apt to push sales and revenue over needed services. And because of that I am more trusting should larger repairs or replacement be suggested by Brad at Astoria Heating and Cooling than an alternative company that invests more in sales over repairs and service fees.-I - Posted Jan 12, 2024
I had a ac water leak from the unit above and Brad came out at 11 pm to control it before any damage occurred to my condo unit. He removed a old piece of moldy duct board that was laying in one vent and did a A/C system maintenance and upgraded my smart thermostat. Best service and best price. Best AC service in town. The owner Brad is very nice, neat and very knowledgeable. Would definitely use them again which I have several times over the years. I just got a new Trane system installed at a very good price and and they installed a Reme Halo to remove odors from my condo. Very impressed with this ac company. It was a pleasure working with Brad. He was professional and offered his service at a competitive price. Brad came out quickly after we called him. He did some initial maintenance work by checking several parts of our central air system and diagnosed a much larger problem with our TVX unit. He gave us a quote on the spot for the repairs and came back a week later to do what he promised. There is now a noticeable difference in the performance of our central air system.

I called 10 companies that wouldn't come out to review my issue and provide a quote without charging a fee. I paid the fee for one big company to come out. They didn't look at my AC unit or attic and gave me a quote for over $900. Two days later they called and said they would do it for $550. I called Astoria and discussed my issue. Brad spent time looking at my air handler and attic duct work and didn't charge for the review or quote. He was very thorough and gave me a few options to resolve my issue. I decided to do the first option which increased my air efficiency throughout the whole house. The charge was $175. I will only use Astoria moving forward. It seems like the big company was quoting me a lot more for the job and then cut the price a lot when I didn't jump to do it. Brad's prices were in line with the big companies reduced prices which is what they should have quoted in the first place. Save time and money without games that try and get you to pay way more for the same job and call Astoria. Thanks Brad!
